Overview
HoraView ("we", "our", "us") is a Vedic astrology chart visualization and interpretation tool available at horaview.org. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting any personal data you share with us.
Information We Collect
When you use HoraView, we may collect the following information:
- Google Account Data — If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture. We use this solely to create and manage your HoraView account.
- Chart Data — Birth date, time, and location you enter to generate astrology charts. This data is processed to compute chart positions and is not permanently stored on our servers.
- Payment Information — Token purchases are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card details. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment processing.
- Usage Data — We track interpretation and chat usage counts (per IP for free-tier users, per account for signed-in users) for rate limiting and analytics.
- Local Storage — We use your browser's localStorage to save chart slots, session preferences, and authentication tokens. This data stays on your device.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide chart generation and AI-powered interpretation services
- To manage your account and token balance
- To process payments via Stripe
- To enforce rate limits and prevent abuse
- To improve our services
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except:
- Stripe — for payment processing
- Anthropic (Claude API) — chart data is sent to generate AI interpretations. Anthropic does not retain this data beyond processing the request.
- Google — for authentication via Google Sign-In
- Legal requirements — if required by law or to protect our rights
Data Retention
Account data is retained as long as your account is active. Chart data submitted for interpretation is not permanently stored on our servers. You may request deletion of your account by contacting us.
Cookies and Local Storage
HoraView uses browser localStorage (not cookies) to store authentication tokens and saved charts. Google Analytics may set cookies for anonymized usage analytics.
Security
We use HTTPS encryption for all data in transit. Authentication tokens are signed with industry-standard algorithms (JWT/HS256). Payment processing is handled by Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure.
Children's Privacy
HoraView is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
